A Musical Journey to "My Emerald Island".

My first encounter with Irish music was back in the Netherlands many years ago. My favourite at that time was “The Town I Loved So Well”, and I didn’t even know it was about an Irish town called Derry.

Being born and raised in the Netherlands, I married there and our children were born there. You could say I was a Dutchman.

And I truly was an ordinary man who did special things.

One of those special things was bringing a visit to Ireland, where I felt as coming home.

You could say, I felt called.

I experienced this Emerald Island as My Island, that is My Land.

So, I wondered if my wife and children would go with me on an adventure and move to Ireland.

We would not really steal away, but leave much behind.

We decided as a family to do this. And it wasn’t a Lonesome Boatman who took us there.

Quickly I learned as much as possible about Ireland’s eventful past.

We discovered a lot more Irish musical artists, singers, and bands.

Shortly after my first grandchild was born, my father fell severely ill and went Home.

I lost my Old Man.

Luckily before all the events of the so called pandemic started, my mother also went Home. But we are still On The One Road towards our Future Home.

Soon my wife and I will leave this world behind and go Home. So, let’s have a last glass together.

I hope this little musical journey, and the story of my adventure, was enjoyable to you.
